Essentially, a program inputs the image and the printer will start creating the three-dimensional object by laying a single layer and then another layer on top of that. It will do this until the very last layer and the object is complete.
  2. 3D printers use complicated lasers. When it comes to the lasers that 3D printers use, the technology is highly advanced. These lasers are responsible for interpreting the programming for the object to be created and the creating the object out of thin air. Moreover, some 3D lasers, like the ones produced by TriMet, are able to reverse engineer objects. This kind of technology was considered science fiction only ten years ago – but today, this technology is used in many different industries.
  3. 3D printing is cheaper and quicker than prototype printers. When it comes down to it, prototype printers have been used for many years to create prototypes for various businesses, but they are large and expensive – way too expensive for most mid-market businesses. 3D printing, however, is much less expensive and a lot more accessible. If you are deciding between a prototype printer and a 3D printer, you may want to go for a 3D printer – mostly because they are more versatile and there are a lot more applications. With a prototype printer, you don’t have a lot of options.
  4. 3D printing is predominantly used in the medical industry. Indeed, 3D printing has become a major force in the medical industry. Many doctors and nurses are using 3D printing for many applications. For instance, surgeons use 3D printing to print models of various parts of the body to help with surgeries and to make surgical procedures more accurate and successful. Surgeons can also use 3D printing for printing spare parts of medical equipment.
  5. 3D printing is now affordable and can be used by anyone. These days, anyone can purchase a 3D printer for less than $1000. This means that small businesses can benefit from 3D printing. Roughly three years ago, 3D printing was inaccessible and expensive. These days, though, you can fit a 3D printer on your desk. Many people project that 3D printers are only going to get smaller and more affordable, which will make the technology even more universal.
